BSC Students and Parents,

Given President Coleman’s most recent announcement, we are now excited to focus on the upcoming academic terms.

If you have not already registered for E-Term and Spring, I strongly encourage you to do so when registration reopens for all students starting tomorrow, November 8 at 8 a.m. If you need approval for registration, please meet with your academic advisor as soon as possible to discuss your plans.

If you have been considering a transfer due to the recent uncertainty, I want you to know that transferring, especially in the middle of an academic year, is not in your best interest. Doing so now could result in a loss of scholarships, difficulty in finding housing, the inability to transfer credits earned at BSC, and increased time toward completing your degree.

When a college closes, that institution negotiates transfer agreements with other institutions that mitigate these potential losses. In that situation, BSC would do the same for you. But these kinds of agreements only apply in the event of a closure. Fortunately, we do not see that as likely. So it is in your best interest to stay at BSC to finish your degree.

You chose BSC for a reason, including our personalized attention to your success and the relationships you have developed with faculty, staff, coaches, and other students. The last two weeks have only served to remind us of the power of the BSC community. If you are struggling, now is the time to reach out to your professors, seek tutoring, and contact the Student Development team – including our counselors and our chaplain -- for help. BSC has the resources for you to succeed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. I look forward to welcoming you back next term.

Forward, Ever!
